How Does High-Speed Dial-Up Internet Work?
High-Speed dial-up providers use a compression technology that will allow users to surf faster while online. The longer you use your fast dialup connection, the faster it gets! By using advanced caching features, sites that you have previously visited will load faster and quicker.

High speed dialup access is an alternative to dialup and is not a broadband (DSL/Cable) solution. Features such as audio, files and attachments will not get accelerated.

Do I Need New Equipment to get High-Speed Dial-Up?
No. You can use your existing telephone line and existing modem. The biggest benefit of high-speed dial-up is there is no new equipment required.

Can I Downgrade to Standard Dial-Up Service?
Yes - all providers will allow you to downgrade your service to a standard dial-up connection. In order to do this, in most if not all cases you will either have to download a different connection software/and or get a new user name. Either way the switch is painless and quick.

How Fast is The Speed Increase? Is it noticable?
A high-speed dial-up connection can be up to 500% faster than a standard 56K dial-up service. The speed is noticeable, because it's quicker, faster and more efficient.

What Internet Features Get Faster?
Web pages, such as HTML, markup and JavaScript will get faster. These are the most common type of web pages on the Internet today.

Graphics on a webpage, including the most frequently used JPEG and GIF images, will get faster.

Web based email will also speed up.

Streaming media, audio and video files will not get faster. These are large items that take regular time to download or upload.

Can I Talk On The Phone And Access The Internet At The Same Time?
Only V.92 modems or a true broadband connection can do both at the same time. DACOR supports V.92 features on most of our toll free access numbers. We also provide DSL service in these communities.
