Check or Test your Dialup Connection - Windows 95/98
To check and/or test your dial-up networking connection to DACOR, double-click the
My Computer icon on your desktop and double-click on Dial-Up Networking.
Check Your Connection
First check your connection setup by right-clicking on the DACOR connection icon
and click Properties. Verify that the phone number is correct and click
Configure to check the modem settings. On the Connection tab make sure
the Wait for dial tone before dialing and Cancel the call if not connected
within 90 secs are both checked and the later is set for at least 90 secs.
Click OK.
Now click Server Types. The only boxes checked should be Enable software
compression and TCP/IP. Click on TCP/IP Settings and make sure it is
set for Server assigned IP address and Server assigned name server addresses and
that the Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network boxes
are checked. When done click the OK button to save/close all the dialog boxes until
you return to the Dial-Up Networking window (with your DACOR connection icon).
Test Your Connection
Now double-click on the DACOR connection
icon. The standard dial-up connection dialog box should appear.
Click on the Dialing Properties button and confirm that all the
settings are correct. When done click the OK button to save
your changes and click the Connect button to connect to DACOR.
Once connected you should be able to launch your favorite browser and browse
the Internet.
Congratulations. You have successfully connected to the Internet.
